Accessibility Statement

Target

The publication target for evidencefirst.guide is WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Accessibility is treated as a release requirement rather than a visual afterthought.

Measures in the current site

• Semantic landmarks, one primary page heading and a keyboard-accessible skip link.
• Visible focus states and minimum interactive target sizing in primary navigation and controls.
• Dark-theme text tokens selected for AA contrast, with a separate accessible red token for small text.
• Reduced-motion behavior for users who request it.
• Forced-colors support for core cards, controls and navigational surfaces.
• Descriptive alternative text where an image conveys content; decorative volume graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
• Automated publication checks for generated HTML and Lighthouse accessibility audits in the website workflow.

Printable PDFs

The Field Forms are primarily print-ready working documents. PDF accessibility can vary by reader and by the tagging preserved during print-production export. The web page describes the purpose of each form and does not require a PDF download to understand which record is appropriate.

Known limitations

Individual card companion routes currently preserve identity and maintenance routing rather than reproducing the printed card. The State Navigator remains intentionally unavailable until its state-routing logic has been independently checked against the authoritative book index.

Reporting a problem

When an accessibility issue is reported through an Evidence First publication contact channel, include the affected page, the assistive technology or browser in use when relevant, and the task that could not be completed. Accessibility defects are handled as publication defects rather than ordinary cosmetic changes.
